Government to contribute for documentary about Eugen Doga

The Government will allot from the Reserve Fund nearly MDL 165,000 for the production of the video spot “Moldova Is my Cradle” and almost MDL 143,000 for a documentary film about the life and works of the national composer Eugen Doga. The provision of these funds is planned in the National Action Plan dedicated to the celebration of the composer’s 70th anniversary. The production of the documentary requires a total of MDL 288,000, the remainder being covered by the “Teleradio-Moldova” Company from unexpended funds intended for Eurovision-2006. Recently, the Chisinau Municipal Council decided to set up the “Eugen Doga” music hall, expected to be built on a plot situated on Mihai Eminescu Street, 53. 2007 has been designated as “Eugen Doga Year” in Moldova. In February, the Municipal Council conferred the title of Honorary Citizen of Chisinau on composer Eugen Doga. Born in 1937 in Mocra village, Transnistria, Doga is the author of many priceless musical compositions, film and theatre soundtracks.
