The Cabinet on March 2 approved the Party of Action and Solidarity’s bill that stipulates new measures of support for veterans who defended the integrity of the Republic of Moldova in 1992. A lump sum of 2,500 lei will be provided to veterans in 2022. If these died, the money will be offered to parents or widows, IPN reports.

The bill provides that the period of participation in the armed conflict will be included in the contribution period. Also, the right to a nominal allocation for special merits will be offered to all the veterans, regardless of age.

According to Minister of Labor and Social Protection Marcel Spatari, the bill provides that the Moldovan war veterans who were conferred state awards will benefit from a nominal allocation either they receive pension or a state social allowance or not, even if they do not live in the Republic of Moldova.

The given law in 2022 is to be implemented at a cost of 56.5 million lei.

In Moldova there are over 20,700 veterans of the war for defending the territorial integrity and independence of the Republic of Moldova.
