The government should launch ambitious projects if it wants to revive such sectors as constructions or other key areas of the economy, stated Victor Gurau, the deputy chairman of the Moldovan Managers' Association, at a roundtable meeting on Thursday that addressed the financing of the so-called real sector, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“The most important sectors are in a coma, and I'm afraid that the doctor could die until the patient gets well, if we keep on talking and doing nothing about it”, said Victor Gurau.
Whereas two or three years ago, says Gurau, the constructions sector was a locomotive for Moldova's economic growth, today most residential developers are unable to complete their projects because they have no money and the banks are extremely reluctant to offer loans.
“Where should we take the money from? Only the government can offer tangible assistance through the projects that it could finance. There are 110 uncompleted apartment houses valued at about 5 billion lei. The investments made amounted to 2 billion lei. The government should finance the construction of social housing”, argued Victor Gurau.
Gurau thinks that the government should also invest in roads, energy facilities and other infrastructure projects.
