The decision draft on reproving the Creation Agreement of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), proposed by the deputies of the Alliance "Moldova Noastra", Vitalia Pavlicenco and Valeriu Cosarciuc, was rejected on Wednesday by the government.
„Announcing about the pro-European direction and concluding, in February 2005, of the Individual Action Plan EU–RM involves fundamental transformations, in order to ensure visible progresses on local institutional and functional level and to make our state eligible for its acceptance in European structures”, according to the draft’s information note.
According to these two deputies, the most frequent opinion expressed in our society, as well as in the East and West, shows that Moldova’s inclusion in CIS and its endeavorto join EU are incompatible and a definite decision in favor of European family would offer another prospective for population, tangible chances of supporting the pro-European option.
In their opinion, the decision draft on denouncing the Agreement on CIS creation is included in the context of the European integration objective and will contribute to fastening the development of the country on this path. „Inherent are the opinions that, through reproving this Agreement, RM will have to deal with negative economic outputs. Political independence has its price. The supreme value is, today, the Joint Declaration on Implementing European Integration Goals, adopted by all political groups of the parliament”, according to the document.
At GUAM meeting, held in Kiev, the president Vladimir Voronin stated that Moldova examines different CIS withdrawal procedures. The head of state mentioned that such initiative was submitted in the parliament on behalf of opposition deputies, but it is not known „the result” of its discussion. At the same time, Voronin regretted that „CIS huge internal potential hasn’t been utilized”.
The parliamentary faction Alliance „Moldova Noastra” proposed at the end of March to include on the legislative’s agenda the draft on CIS withdrawal. Communist deputies voted against it. Even if the Government did not approve the mentioned decision draft, it will be discussed in the parliament.
Georgia and Ukraine announced at the beginning of this month about the examination of the possibility to leave this structure, created in 1991 as result of URSS fall, by Soviet republics, except Baltic States.
