Government ready to cover only half of the money needed for building an apartment block for internally displaced families

The Government will contribute 1.5 million lei to finishing the construction of an apartment block in the capital city for internally displaced families. According to the head of the Capital Construction Division of the Chisinau City Council, Ion Dermenji, the works are approaching the closing steps. However, to put the building into use another 3 million lei are needed. The Government pledged to cover only half of the costs. The Ministry of Finance will identify the financing sources by the end of this week. The rest of the money will be allocated by the City Council. The construction works started in 2005. The total cost of the construction reaches 33 million lei, out of which 14 million were already paid by the state budget and 10 million from the local budget. The building is expected to house families already in September. 80 families will receive apartment keys. The Movement of Transnistrian refugees has protested more than once in front of the Government, asking for the fulfillment of its promise to allocate funds for providing the internally displaced persons with housing.
