The childbirth allowance could increase by 1 350 lei from next year. According to a draft decision drafted by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, the amount of the single childbirth allowance would increase from 20,000 to 21,350 lei, IPN reports.
The draft provides for the amendment of the annex to the Regulation on the method of establishing and paying allowances for families with children, approved by government decision.
This initiative is part of the Government's Action Plan for 2024 and aims to financially support families, contributing to the improvement of living standards and reducing child poverty.
In order to implement the new provisions, additional financial resources of about 35 million lei are needed, an amount already included in the draft State Budget Law for 2025. The authorities estimate that almost 26,000 children will benefit from this increase in the first year of implementation.
The draft decision is currently in the phase of public consultation, endorsement and expertise on the Particip.gov.md platform.
