The Government ordered a 100% increase of the alimentation ration for students of the sports type boarding schools. It will be increased for the students aged from 12 to 15, up to MDL 33, and for students of 16 to 19 - up to MDL 44. The norms on alimentation and supplying with sports equipment in the boarding sports schools, approved in 2005 by the Ministry of Education and Youth, together with the ministry of Finances, provided for 3 meals per day for students. For the grades between 4th and 6th the food ration costs MDL 13 per day; for the 7th and the 8th forms – MDL 16 per day, for 9th to 12th grades – MDL 19 per day. The Government’s decision has been motivated by the fact that the educational process for students of the sports type boarding-schools includes 2 trainings per day, lasting from 4 to 6 hours. As consequence, the body consumes between 4 and 6 thousand kilocalories per day, and the financial sources allocated for food are insufficient. The inadequate alimentation in these institutions has been attested by the sanitary supervision bodies of the Municipality of Chisinau. They registered an increased number of gastrointestinal diseases among students, as well as numerous requests concerning the necessity of increasing the sums for alimentation. Concerning the issue of providing the students with sports equipment, the authorities consider that the approved norms correspond to the necessary minimum and the medical-sanitary requirements, being similar to those from the specialised institutions of neighbouring and CIS states. The estimative cost of a sports kit constitutes between MDL 200 and 2500 depending on the size of the clothes and footwear. Local public administration authorities have been obliged to apply the respective norms within the limits of the approved financing, by optimising the expenses. The Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finances will establish every year the costs for food and sports equipment, which would be paid from budgetary sources, depending on the variation of prices.
