The Government of Romania approved the allocation of €20 million for the pre-school infrastructure of Moldova. The Romanian Premier said this is the largest amount of non-reimbursable assistance offered to Moldova after 2010. Victor Ponta called on the Ministry of Education and the whole Romanian people to help Moldova by donating books, CDs and DVDs with cartoons and films in the Romanian language, IPN reports.
The Romanian official said he does not believe that he is excessively optimistic if he hopes that Moldova will be one of the EU members in 2019, when Romania will take over the presidency of the EU. “This may seem a very ambitious objective, but we will not manage if we do not set such goals. I think we can do this together,” he stated.
Attending the meeting of the Romanian Government, Moldovan Prime Minister Iurie Leanca said that 2013 was a good year for the bilateral relations between Chisinau and Bucharest. He voiced hope that the same pace will be maintained. “I’m sure that we will manage to sign the Association Agreement with the EU next year and we will thus assume commercial and economic commitments that will ensure our economic and then political integration into the European area,” said the Premier.
He underlined that this sum offered by Romania is very important and promised that it will be used with maximum efficiency so that the Moldovans know from where the support comes.
