Prime Minister Pavel Filip welcomed the successful implementation of the Country Program for Moldova of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) for 2013-2017 and said the Government is ready for the elaboration of the third County Program, for 2018-2022, which is to be approved by the UNFPA Executive Board this September, IPN reports.

In a meeting with the UNFPA Regional Director for Eastern Europe and Central Asia Alanna Armitage on June 22, Pavel Filip welcomed the assistance offered by the United Nations, including UNFPA, in promoting the rights of women, men and children to a healthy lifestyle, with equal opportunities, and in using data about the population in formulating policies and programs.

The Premier noted that the support provided by the international organizations contributes to the successful implementation of the reform agenda. “The range of problems is wide and prioritization plays an essential role in achieving the set objectives. Thus, the support provided by the development partners enables to act in different sectors and to make progress in modernizing the country and ensuring the welfare of people,” stated Pavel Filip.

Alanna Armitage reiterated the UNFPA’s readiness to continue to assist Moldova in such key social sectors as gender equality, teens and young people, sexual and reproductive health and rights and demographic security.
