The National Cinematography Center will soon start work, as provided in the Cinematography Law. The acting Government approved a decision to this effect in its December 2 meeting, IPN reports.
The Center will be a public institution subordinated to the Ministry of Culture, whose mission will be to implement the state policies on cinematography and to monitor and supervise the implementation of the legislation in the field.
The institution will be funded with budget money and will also use its own resources. The budgeted money will go to organize cinematographic festivals and events in Moldova, to finance the participation of national films and filmmakers in international festivals and to develop filmmaking.
In the same meeting, the acting Cabinet approved changes to the central apparatus of the Ministry of Culture. The units of personnel will be raised from 46 to 52 by reducing the staff of the National Library by six units. A new subdivision will be created at the Ministry, called the Capital Investments Service. It will monitor and manage the Ministry’s 60 real estate units that are government property.
