The export of food wheat from Moldova was suspended until the next harvest, except for wheat intended for sowing, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Before the Government took such a decision, Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vasile Bumacov said the wheat exports have trebled and the country's food security will be in danger if this pace is maintained.
The export of corn has not been yet stopped. The executive will return to the issue after the situation is additionally examined.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar said they are considering the possibility of placing restrictions on the export of vegetal oil, potatoes, wheat flour, and sugar in order to avoid shortages of prime food products. The issue will be examined in the next meeting of the Government.
