The 33.33% state-owned shareholding in Banca de Economii (BEM) was removed from the list of possessions that will be privatized, IPN reports.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar said that several years are needed for the BEM to be capitalized and to improve its financial situation. The holding can be privatized in three years.

The list of possessions that will be denationalized, which was approved by the Government, contains 189 state-run companies, joint stock companies in which the state owns majority and smaller holdings and 11 unfinished constructions. The executive hopes to obtain 1 billion lei from privatization. The first privatization round will be held this autumn.
