Government exempts deaf-aid imports from VAT

The Government has exempted imports of hearing aids from VAT payments, following an appeal made by the Association of Deaf Children of Moldova to the Executive and the parliamentary commission for social protection, public health and family. Therefore, the authorities have decided to amend the law on the application of Title 3 of the Tax Code for social purposes, for improving the process of rehabilitation and reintegration of hearing impaired children from Moldova. The potential loss sustained by the state budget as a result of the proposed amendments was estimated by the Ministry of Finance at around 12,000 lei.
