The Cabinet approved the legislative initiative to make amendments to the Parliament Decision concerning the setting of the date of presidential elections. These provide that the campaign that will precede the October 30, 2016 presidential elections will start on August 31.
The amendments adjust the regulations to the supplements to the Election Code regarding the method of organizing and holding the presidential elections adopted by Parliament in June. These stipulate that the legislative body must set the date of elections at least 60 days before the election day.
