The Government on June 24 approved a bill to exclude the VAT, excise duty and customs duty exemptions for goods sold in duty-free stores situated at the entrance to Moldova, IPN reports.
Gabriela Cuneva, secretary general of state at the Ministry of Finance, said the given changes are aimed at adjusting the fiscal and customs treatment in relation to goods that are brought into and sold in Moldova, including in the customs control area at the entrance to the country.
As a result of the approval of this bill, the normative framework will be improved by introducing legal provisions that will ensure equity-based taxation rules with regard to all the business entities that import and sell good on Moldova’s territory by eliminating the preferential tax treatment, stated the secretary of state.
The Government’s approval document is to be presented to Parliament for consideration.
