The Cabinet on August 3 decided to create a viable national mechanism that will ensure an appropriate reaction on the part of the state authorities to events that threaten or affect public order and national security.

Among the powers of the National Public Crisis Management Center are to submit proposals for amending and improving the normative framework, including the provisions concerning the institution of a state of emergency at national level or in a region of the country, and to ensure the compatibility of the allocated resources, the protection of the transmitted data and information, IPN reports.

The composition of the Center includes the minister of the interior, the deputy ministers of justice, defense, information technology and communications, economy, finance, health, environment, transport and road infrastructure, and representatives of the National Anticorruption Center, the Security and Intelligence Center and the Special Telecommunications Center.

The costs for creating the Center, estimated at about 6.39 million lei, will be covered with money from the budget of the Ministry of the Interior.
