The decision to hold a consultative referendum on the method of electing the President in September and legislative and presidential elections in November advantages the government coalition, political analyst Igor Munteanu, the head of the Institute for Development and Social Initiate “Viitorul”, told Info-Prim Neo. “This is a compromise solution. He considers at the referendum the population will vote in favor of the Alliance's proposal to allow electing the head of state directly by the people. He stressed that the organization of elections in November is in accordance with the recommendations made by the Venice Commission. “The Alliance shows that it can maneuver. At the same time, its political maneuvers comply with the national legislation and the observations of the European institutions,” Igor Munteanu said. The analyst said the AEI deserves praise, while the Communists Party deserves criticism as its message was fully disproportional. The head of Radio Free Europe in Moldova Vasile Botnaru stated for Info-Prim Neo that the AEI made the population anxious, but showed it is able to reach a compromise.
