The purpose of two plots managed by the Ministry of the Interior will be changed from land for defense needs into land for the construction of dwellings for employees and social-cultural facilities. One plot is 1.5 hectares in area and is located at 31 Testemitanu St, while the other plot is 1.08 hectares in area and is situated at 30 Bucuresti St, Info-Prim Neo reports. Minister of the Interior Alexei Roibu said that this decision taken by the Government represents a first step towards implementing the social part of the new bill on police and the status of police officer. “The bill envisions providing the police officers with dwelling while they serve with the police. Currently, the Ministry of the Interior does not have homes for police employees. All the apartments were privatized. But we need young and well-prepared personnel that would cope with the new challenges within the police reform. We aim to build dwellings for police officers under public-private partnerships,” the minister said after the executive’s meeting. There will be drafted the normative documents needed to select the private partners. Amendments to the legislation were submitted to Parliament, by which the privatization of dwellings intended for employees is banned. Under the legislation, a person can buy the apartment or house if he/she worked in the bodies of the Ministry of the Interior for 10 years and lived in the given dwelling.
