The executive will increase the election funds of 60 million lei, allocated earlier from the state budget, by 15.7 million lei. This money will be provided from the executive’s reserve fund, IPN reports.
Minister of Finance Anatol Arapu explained that the costs associated with the printing of ballots at the state-owned publishing house rose three times. A lower price could have been found, but the law provides that the ballots can be printed only at the state-owned publishing house. Holding a tender contest would be more reasonable from economic viewpoint.
It should be noted that the previous local elections cost 44 million lei.
