The Government assumed responsibility before Parliament for four bills that contain amendments to the annual budget laws. Under the amendments, the state budget revenues will be raised by 52.4 million lei, particularly by increasing the deductions from state-owned enterprises and joint stock companies by 33. 9 million lei and the donations in support of the budget, IPN reports.

After a quorum of 51 MPs was announced in Parliament, the opposition MPs entered the assembly hall, but they left when the Prime Minister was invited to the rostrum to present the bills for which the Government assumed responsibility. They chanted “Shame!”, “Go out!”.

Premier Ion Chicu continued his presentation. “As these bills are for the benefit of the people, the economy and society, the Government is hopeful that they will start to be implemented as swiftly as possible. I’m sure that we have a common objective – to improve living conditions in the Republic of Moldova,” stated the official.

The state budget costs will be increased by 1.273,3 billion lei. A sum of 469.6 million lei will be transferred to the state social insurance budget for paying 700 lei in support to about 660,000 pensioners with incomes lower than 3,000 lei a month (466.3m lei) and for paying allowances to the descendants of the healthcare workers who died from COVID-19 (3.3m lei).

Another 428 million lei will be transferred to the mandatory health insurance funds. 362.5 million lei will go to raise the salaries of health professionals by 30% from September 1, 2020, for a four-month period.

Under the changes made by the executive, the farmers support fund will be raised by 100 million lei. 50 million lei will be allocated for developing entrepreneurial infrastructure in the form of 16 industrial platforms, while 20 million lei will go to implement the state program “First House”.

Under the Constitution, the bill for which the Government assumes responsibility takes effect within three days (72 hours) if the executive is not dismissed by a motion of no confidence.
