The 11 bills for which the Government assumed political responsibility will take effect within 72 hours, if no censure motion is submitted and adopted in this period. On July 22, Prime Minister Iurie Leanca presented a report in Parliament and thanked the lawmakers for their openness. He said this is for the first time since he took office that he must make use of this legal measure. “We resorted to this measure as an exception. Important laws concerning the justice sector reform, the banking system and the adjustment of the budget risk being delayed,” stated Iurie Leanca, quoted by IPN.

The Government assumed political responsibility for the bill concerning the combined nomenclature of goods, the bill to amend the Tax Code and the Law on Mortgage, the bill on the organization and functioning of the single national emergency call system 112 and the bill to amend the 2014 State Social Insurance Budget Law so as to raise the salaries of different categories of employees by 20-40%. Iurie Leanca said that over 170,000 people will benefit from pay raises. The state benefit to pensions will also be increased (to 180 lei). As a result, together with the April indexation of pensions, the pensions will rise by up to 24% in 2014.

The executive also assumed responsibility for the bills to amend the 2014 Law on the Mandatory Health Insurance Funds, the Law on Judicial Organization and the Law on the Status of Judge, and the bill concerning the disciplinary punishment of judges, which allows withdrawing the judicial immunity and confiscating the property for such offenses as money laundering and unjust enrichment.

Among other bills for which the Government assumed political responsibility are the bills to amend the Law on the Prevention and Combating of Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing and the Law on Financial Institutions, the bill on public finances and budget-fiscal responsibilities, and the bill to amend the 2014 State Budget Law.

Head of Parliament Igor Corman said that if no censure motion is put forward within 72 hours, the bills will be considered adopted. He will sign them and submit them to the head of state for promulgation.
