The Government approved the plans for training specialists with financing from the state budget at higher education institutions during the 2020-2021 school year. Under the state order, 5,000 persons will be admitted to study 26 general areas of study. Some of these will be supported more, such as education sciences, engineering, information and communication technology, medicine, veterinary medicine, and agricultural sciences, IPN reports.

Given the epidemiological situation and the acute shortage of medical personnel involved in the treatment of infections, the budget-funded places at medical specialties were increased in number by 35 for the bachelor’s degree and by 20 for the master’s degree. The plan for education sciences was increased by 50 places, while that for ICT by 83 places, said Minister of Education Igor Sharov.

As many as 3,096 places for higher master’s studies will be financed with state budget funds. The state order for the second cycle primarily supports the education sciences, law, engineering and ICT.

A number of 433 persons will be admitted to residency.

For honoring the obligations undertaken by Moldova by bilateral contracts signed with different countries, 106 budget-funded places were earmarked for foreigners: 76 for a bachelor’s degree and 130 for a master’s degree.
