Within 12 months of the adoption of the draft law on the national emergency service 112, the population will be able to seek help in any urgent situation, regardless of the location, calling a single emergency number. The use of the 112 system will enable to alert and simultaneously involve the emergency services. The bill was approved by the Government, IPN reports.
The works to purchase and install the information and electronic communication platform, to outfit the workplaces and equip and repair the 112 service offices, including the costs for training and preparing operators, were assessed at 242 million lei.
For the first time, the single emergency call system was implemented in Sweden in 1991. Currently, the number 112 is used in all the EU member sates. International experience shows the implementation of this system enables to significantly reduce the losses of lives and the damage sustained in emergencies.
