The Government approved the allocation of 60 million lei from the emergency fund for purchasing 338,600 doses of COVID-19 vaccines at the estimated price of US$ 10 per dose, IPN reports.

According to Tatiana Zatyk, secretary of state at the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, to reduce the pandemic’s impact on the population, besides the observance of the protection measures, it is important to immunize the population against COVID-19.

The National Public Health Agency estimated that over 4.8 million doses of vaccines are needed to achieve the immunization rate of 70% of the population. Vaccines will be received through the COVAX Facility and from donations.

Acting Prime Minister Aureliu Ciocoi called on the MPs to allow the Government to derogate from the law on public procurement so as to swiftly open negotiations with producers and save time.
