The recipients of pensions and social allowances lower than 2,000 lei on the Easter holydays will receive by 600 lei in financial support, the leader of the Democratic Party Vlad Plahotniuc announced in a press briefing after the party’s weekly meeting, IPN reports.
Vlad Plahotniuc said the pensions will be traditionally indexed in April. He didn’t yet specify the size of indexation. According to the Democratic leader, the cold-month allowance for the 2019-2020 cold season will be doubled from 350 to 700 lei a month (for five months). More than 150,000 people will benefit from higher cold-month allowances.
The politician noted the one-time childbirth allowance was proposed to be increased from 6,303 lei to 10,000 lei, Also, each child up to the age of 18 will monthly benefit from an allowance of 200 lei. A series of medicines that are most often used to treat particular diseases will be provided free to patients.
Vlad Plahotniuc stated the relevant bills will be given a first reading by the current legislature at the start of this February and would be adopted by the future Parliament after the February 24 elections.
