Government and Parliament will ask for details about bank fraud from Kroll

The Government led by Maia Sandu, the Parliament and the commission of inquiry into the bank fraud will address directly the international company Kroll and will ask for details about the conducted investigations, including for the company’s second report, President Igor Dodon announced after the meeting of the Supreme Security Council that convened in a new composition on June 11, IPN reports.

President Dodon said the members of the Council requested the Prosecutor General’s Office and the National Bank of Moldova to present the Second Kroll Report as a matter of urgency. The Council also asked the international community to become involved in the investigation of the bank fraud and warned the employees of the investigation and prosecution bodies about the responsibility they bear for the destruction or disappearance of evidence collected in the criminal cases concerning the bank fraud.

According to Igor Dodon, the Presidential Office and the Supreme Security Council received information that those who lost the power and will soon be history started to immediately take money out of Moldova. Therefore, the Council requested the National Bank of Moldova and the Money Laundering Service managed by the Government to daily inform the Council about the flows of money that exceed 500,000 lei.

As to the latest decisions taken by the Constitutional Court, President Dodon said the Supreme Security Council took note of these decisions and described them as arbitrary, contrary to the Constitution and that affect national security. As the Head of State, he consulted the parliamentary groups and ascertained that the decrees to dissolve Parliament and to call snap parliamentary elections signed by Pavel Filip do not meet the constitutional norms. Therefore, on June 11 he issued a decree to annul these decisions.

The Council called upon all the state institutions to ensure the functionality of the newly elected Government. Igor Dodon said the meeting wasn’t attended by the ex officio members who are obliged to be present. These are Prosecutor General Eduard Harunjen and National Bank Governor Octavian Armașu.
