The priority reform action roadmap and the plan of action for implementing the Association Agreement with the EU were the main themes discussed in a joint meeting of the Government and Parliament held on February 6, before the official start of the spring-summer session of the legislature, IPN reports.
According to the Government’s press service, Prime Minister Pavel Filip welcomed the organization of such joint meetings that enable to synchronize the actions and ensure greater responsibility. He said that owing to the joint efforts and the Parliament’s support, important results were achieved by the executive during the past two years, such as an annual economic growth of 4%, remedying of the situation in the banking sector, doing of the central public administration reform, pension system reform and justice sector reform.
The priorities for 2018 include the justice sector reform, modernization of the education system and improvement of the road and energy infrastructure, the hospital and primary medicine reforms.
In a news conference after the meeting, Premier Pavel Filip and Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu underlined that this year will be a difficult one for the executive and legislature given that parliamentary elections will be held at yearend. Both of the officials promised to try and detach themselves from the electoral struggle so as to concentrate on current activities. In this connection, Pavel Filip said the Government and Parliament will make effort to approve the 2019 state budget by the end of the current parliamentary session.
