The Government decided to allocate over 1.7 million lei for cleaning the pluvial drainage system and reinforcing the protection levee in the municipality of Comrat. Under a draft Government decision, the money will be allocated to the Comrat Municipal Council in ATU Gagauzia from the executive’s reserve fund, IPN reports.

After the heavy rain of September 29, several tens of homes in Comrat were flooded by water from Ialpug River that hasn’t been cleaned for a long period of time.

Then, Prime Minister Ion Chicu asked to examine the state of all the small rivers in the country and to work out a riverbed cleanup program. He noted it is much costly to deal with the consequences of floods than to clean the riverbeds.
