Good Saturday is a day of meditation for the Orthodox Christians.
It represents the body of Jesus resting in the tomb. According to the Orthodox tradition, on this day Jesus descended into hell, getting Adam and Eve, and the righteous of the Old Testament out from there, as a promise of resurrection and saving of all the righteous. This is often painted on the icons dedicated to the Easter events.
On this day, candles are lit, silver bell-boards and the bells made by Constantine the Great start to ring at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem. Hundreds of clerics from different countries swing censers and, going around the church, start singing in their languages: "Oh, Lord, angels in heaven sing Your Resurrection..."
The Sunday Vespers last till Sunday morning. They sing "Christ has resurrected!" in all languages.
Christians ready for the great vigil, when priests announce the Resurrection, distribute light and perform the Sunday service. They will spray the Easter cakes, eggs and other food with holy water, Info-Prim reports.
