A new optional course called “The Culture of Good-neighborliness” will be piloted in about 30 primary schools in the upcoming school year. In this context, the Education Center Pro Didactica is holding a training course on August 25 and 26 for second-grade teachers. Earlier similar courses were held for pedagogues teaching in other grades.

Conceived by Ukrainian specialists, “The Culture of Good-neighborliness” course is taught in many areas. After being adapted to the Moldovan context, the course will be taught starting this year to over 750 primary school children on both sides of the Nistru River.

With this course, the children will be initiated into the culture of peace and good-neighborliness, developing a respect for cultural rights, Pro Didactica says in a press release.

The teachers will participate in other training courses as well, to be held in Chisinau, Comrat and Tiraspol, and facilitated by trainers from Moldova, Ukraine and Sweden. The project's overall goal is to improve relations among various areas of the country, including the Transnistrian region, and promote intercultural education.

The project has been implemented since 2013 by the Swedish Peace and Arbitration Society, in partnership with the Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict (GPPAC) and its regional network in Eastern Europe, with the support of the Swedish Institute and UNDP Moldova.
