“Long live and many happy returns, Chisinau!” This is how Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca greeted the people who came together in the Great National Assembly Square to take part in the official opening of Chisinau's Day. The anthem of Chisinau was played on the piano by master Eugen Doga, Info-Prim Neo reports. “Chisinau showed it can r develop further. It remained a foundation pillar of Moldova, an engine fostering Moldova's integration into the EU,” said the mayor. Serghei Grafov, consultant to the mayor of Odessa, who was deputy mayor of Chisinau in 1971-1974, wished the residents of Chisinau success and happiness. “Relations of friendship have been established between Odessa and Chisinau long ago. We are neighbors and friends and have a common history. I wish you success and good luck,” he said. Mayor of Romania's Petrosani Florin Tiberiu Iacob Ridzi said he comes to Chisinau with pleasure as he is welcomed here by hardworking and benevolent people. According to him, Chisinau became a city of welfare. Deputy Mayor of Romania's Piatra Neamt Dragos Chitic said Chisinau made significant progress during the last few years. He wished the inhabitants of Chisinau good luck and peace. The main concert dedicated to Chisinau's Day starts at 16.00 and will last for eight hours. It involves the bands “Lautarii” and “Naguale” and singers Irina Loghin, Catalin Crisan, Dinu Iancu Salajanu and others. The festivities will end with a fireworks display. A concert by Scorpions will take place on Zimbru Stadium starting at 20.00.
