Even if the Moldovan legislation offers the immigrants the same rights as to the citizens of other states, these rights are not always respected. The immigrants meet with difficulties especially when they apply for a job. The good immigrant integration practices and international standards in the field are considered at an international forum that is held in Chisinau on May 17-18, IPN reports.
According to the manager of the Charity Center for Refugees Djavid Paknehad, the legislation is not implemented owing to the inadequate financing that is allocated for the purpose. “There are problems related to employment. Not all the employers are ready to employ immigrants, mainly because many of these do not know the official language or know it insufficiently,” stated Djavid Paknehad.
Deputy Minister of the Interior Oleg Babin in the forum said the integration of immigrants is a topical subject on the international agenda, including for the Republic of Moldova. The observance of the rights of immigrants by adjusting the legal and institutional framework is a priority for the Ministry of the Interior. “Regrettably, we are not always ready to forecast or modify the direction of the migration flow. It is thus very important to agree the measures that are to be taken,” said the official.
The forum involves specialists from 18 states. These will discuss immigrant integration policies and will formulate recommendations for adjusting the legislation in the field, by meeting the European standards.
