A quarantine regime is instituted in Glodeni town as of April 14, 8am, given the spread of the COVID-19 infection in the region. The decision was taken in a move to keep the developments in the town under control, Prime Minister Ion Chicu said after the meeting of the Commission for Exceptional Situations, IPN reports.
Five localities in Moldova are now in quarantine. These are: Soroca municipality, Boghiceni village of Hâncești district, Ștefan Vodă town, Carahasani and Talmaza villages of Ștefan Vodă district.
Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Viorica Dumbrăveanu, after the meeting of the Single Command Center, said that 50 persons were diagnosed with COVID-19 in Moldova on April 13. Two of the infections were imported, while the rest are local transmission cases.
As many as 273 samples were processed in total. Viorica Dumbrăveanu noted that the authorities aim to step up the testing of persons from risk groups, especially in the current hotbeds.
The infections with the novel coronavirus in Moldova now total 1,712. The death toll from COVID-19 stands at 35.
