Girl gets poisoned by fumes when blocked in elevator

A 19-year-old girl needed hospital treatment after inhaling fumes when blocked in the elevator of an apartment building in Chisinau’s Ciocana district. Liliana Puscasu, spokeswoman for the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, told Info-Prim Neo that the incident happened in a building on Ginta Latina St on July 3. The elevator stopped at the 14th floor of the building. A pile of garbage caught fire at the first floor. The smoke ascended and the girl started to stifle. When she was taken out of the elevator, she was conscious, but very weak. She was admitted to Saint Trinity Hospital for examination and was soon discharged. As many as 99 persons, including a child, were killed in the 899 fires that happened in Moldova this year.
