A four-year-old girl from Causeni, who remained in the apartment alone with the entrance door blocked from inside, fell from a balcony situated on the fifth floor. Acting vice director of the district hospital Vasile Ochiosanu said the girl was hospitalized with a leg fracture, a concussion and multiple bruises. She will remain in the neurology section for several weeks.

The apartment door closed and got blocked from inside when the girl’s mother went out in the hall. When alone in the apartment, the girl went onto the balcony and fell off. The trees growing near the building alleviated the fall, but the child suffered serious injuries.

According to press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service Lilian Puscasu, at least once a month the rescuers are informed about cases of children being blocked inside houses or apartments. The children are mainly aged two to five. They close the doors while playing and cannot open them or the doors close because of currents and get blocked.

Liliana Puscasu warned the parents and persons looking after minors not to leave the children unsupervised in the house as they face different risks there.

Thirteen children blocked in apartments have been rescued so far this year.
