“Moldova is a favorable location for your investments. Do not hesitate to take this risk and we will win together,” Caretaker President Mihai Ghimpu said during a meeting with Romanian businessmen in Bucharest, Info-Prim Neo reports.
A large part of the businessmen who came to the meeting are native of Moldova and run successful businesses in Romania. Mihai Ghimpu considers that the best thing they can do for their native country is to invest in development. Though Moldova faces many mentality-related difficulties, the county's administration is ready to accept proposals for modifying and improving the economic legislation so as to create favorable conditions for the investors.
”The monopoly on the market was removed after the Communists lost power. The changes implemented by the democratic parties will allow creating conditions for protecting your investments,” Mihai Ghimpu said. “Come to the economic forum that will take place in Moldova late in July to see how things develop at home,” the head of state urged the businessmen, saying they will find cheap labor force, interesting projects, low taxes and many other advantages in Moldova.
Mihai Ghimpu suggested opening a branch of the Chamber of Trade and Industry of Romania in Chisinau. The Chamber's chairman Mihail Vlasov said that if there is political will, any objective can be achieved. The Romanian businessmen are ready to invest in Moldova, but the Government should provide more concessions for them.
Constantin Tampiza, the president of Lukoil Romania, said he is ashamed that he invests in Romania, not in his native country Moldova. According to him, the Communist governors drove away a large part of the businessmen. “We hope we will now have more business opportunities in Moldova,” Tapmiza said, stressing that in order to protect the foreign investment in Moldova the legislation on the sale of land should be modified.
The president of Banca Sociala in Romania Mircea Anghel said that their branch in Chisinau works efficiently. “We have capital to support businesses in Moldova. The Gross Domestic Product per capita in Vaslui county is equal to the GDP per capita in Moldova. So, the Romanians can develop businesses over the Prut as well,” he said.
The head of the Turkmenistan-Romania Chamber of Trade and Industry Victor Dafinescu proposed opening a local office in Moldova. “We are ready to establish an economic partnership and promote the Romanian products in Moldova and Turkmenistan and vice versa,” Victor Dafinescu said.
Mihai Ghimpu underlined that the Romanian businessmen can invest in rural infrastructure, repair of education establishments and other projects in Moldova.
Moldova's Acting President has been in Romania on a two-day official visit.
