The leader of the Liberal Party (PL) Mihai Ghimpu and the deputy chairman of the Democratic Party (PDM) Vlad Plahotniuc share the same position in the May rankings of the 50 most influential politicians that was presented by the Political Consultancy and Analysis Center “Politicon” on Tuesday. Mihai Ghimpu and Vlad Plahotniuc obtained the same number of points from the experts, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“Politicon” vice director Ion Tabarta told a news conference that the rankings continue to be topped by the leader of Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) Vlad Filat. The chairman of the PDM Marian Lupu fell one spot compared with the April rankings, to the third. He exchanged positions with the deputy head of the PLDM, Foreign Minister Iurie Leanca.
“Politicon” director Anatol Taranu said that Iurie Leanca improved his rating because the greatest accomplishments of which the government boasts were achieved at foreign level.
The fourth place is traditionally taken by the deputy head of the PL, Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca. He is followed by Mihai Ghimpu and Vlad Plahotniuc, who come fifth and sixth. Moldova’s President Nicolae Timofti slipped two spots to the seventh. He is succeeded by the former head of state, the Communist leader Vladimir Voronin, who climbed two positions compared with the previous month.
The chairman of the Liberal-Democratic parliamentary group Valeriu Strelet jumped six positions to the ninth from the 15th. The tenth position is taken by Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar, the deputy head of the PDM.
Anatol Taranu said that Marian Lupu fell one spot owing to his Euro-skeptic statements and those regarding the Law on Guaranteeing of Equality. The head of “Politicon” praised Nicolae Timofti, saying he promoted a good and fair policy, does not make shows and makes effort to keep the political stability established in Moldova.
Taranu also said that Vladimir Voronin’s position in the June rankings will be influenced by the Communist Party’s Congress that will take place on June 9. Struggles are being fought inside this party and their outcome may lead to the defection of important members.
