The former Minister of the Interior Gheorghe Papuc was ordered to go to the Prosecutor General's Office (PG) on Wednesday, December 9, as a witness to the April events, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the PG's press service. Papuc will be heard by the prosecutors who investigate two cases – one related to the April 7 events and one related to the steps taken by the decision makers of the Special Police Brigade “Fulger” on the night of April 8. The PG decided to start investigations as the Brigade's commanders could not keep the situation under control and tolerated mass arrests. Among other summoned officials, who worked at the Ministry of the Interior at that period, were Valentin Zubic, Ghenadie Cosovan, Andrei Shumleanski, Petru Corduneanu, and Vladimir Botnari. As many as 105 complaints about the use of torture and mistreatment during and after the April events have been submitted to the Prosecutor General's Office so far. There were opened 35 legal cases. Four cases against police officers were sent to court. Ten more cases will be remitted to court in the near future.
