The National Library of the Republic of Moldova launched a new book of the collection “Moldova’s composers”. This is a bibliographical book about the work of composer Gheorghe Mustea, academician, founder and first conductor of the Symphonic Orchestral of the Public Broadcaster “Teleradio-Moldova”. The launch was held at the National Library in the evening of October 31, IPN reports.

The volume, issued in 50 copies, includes music anthologies of the composer, notes and articles collected from newspapers and magazines, descriptions of video and audio recordings with the participation of Gheorghe Mustea, manuscripts from the personal archive, etc. “The appearance of the book is aimed at developing the national musical heritage,” Lilia Balan, head of the Library’s Audiovideoteque Division, said in the launch.

Master Gheorghe Mustea said for him this bibliographical book is very important because it is a synthesis of his work of composer from the beginning until present. He expressed his regret at the fact that this volume could not embrace his teaching or conductor work. “It was very hard to gather together all the materials written about me. For me, this book is very dear,” stated the conductor.

Attending the ceremony, Vladimir Hotineanu, chairman of the Parliament’s commission on culture, education, research, sport and mass media, said Gheorghe Mustea is a famous name in Moldova. Recently, a prestigious foreign university recognized him as one of the 100 most influential international musicologists. “Gheorghe Mustea is the honor of our country. His work of composer is absolutely distinct. He is a magician of notes, a real creator of pieces of music that will make history. Gheorghe Mustea is already a name of the national heritage,” stated the MP.
