Fiodor Ghelici and Alexandr Iudin have announced they decided to defect from the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM). “It was hard to take such a decision. I did not sleep all night. If Vlad Filat had not avoided having a discussion with me, my decision would have been probably different,” Fiodor Ghelici said in a news conference held at Info-Prim Neo. The two said they decided to leave because the Liberal-Democrat leader is indifferent and the party is divided into two camps. “You should not be surprised if you see me near Ghimpu. Everything is possible. I promise it will be funny!,” Fiodor Ghelici said, when asked if he intends to join another party. Ghelici and Iudin said the PLDM remained as the sheep without shepherd after Vlad Filat was named Prime Minister. “We thought at least Alexandru Tanase will remain to manage the party, but Vlad Filat took the best persons with him in the Cabinet,” said Fiodor Ghelici. He also said he was an active member of the party, struggled for reforms and prosperity and does not want to accept the post of person used by the party only for mass events – protests and rallies. “Unfortunately, I did not achieve the goals I set. Vlad Filat is now different. I cannot be kept on the shelf and used when necessary,” Fiodor Ghelici said. As to the April 7 events, Ghelici said all the politicians who had been in the Great National Assembly Square should be held accountable. “Any politician who comes to protests accompanied by groups of people bears responsibility for what happens,” Fiodor Ghelici said. Fiodor Ghelici heads the association “Moldova Mea” and watches over the Civil Society Congress.
