Germany supports Moldova in reformation process and European integration

Germany will continue to support Moldova in doing reforms and in its European integration process, Parliamentary Secretary of State at the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany Hans-Joachim Fuchtel said in a meeting with Prime Minister Pavel Filip. The German official confirmed Germany’s readiness to provide support and expertise to Moldova in different areas, IPN reports.

According to the Government’s press service, Hans-Joachim Fuchtel said Germany was among the first states that recognized Moldova’s independence and will continue to support the country in its efforts to do reforms in the European integration process.

In the meeting, the two officials discussed the reforms done by Moldova to reform the justice sector, to fight corruption, to improve the situation in the banking sector, to reform public administration and restore the relations with the foreign partners.

The Premier approved of the fact that the German authorities continue to keep Moldova on the list of states that benefit from assistance from the Government of Germany. “Among the main areas of cooperation are governance and economic development. In this regard, we are to organize a new round of negotiations on the Moldovan-German cooperation framework as soon as possible,” stated Pavel Filip.

The Prime Minister noted the important role played by the German side in the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict. He underlined that Moldova counts on Germany’s support while this is holding the chairmanship of the OSCE.
