Germany offers over €6m to Moldova

Germany will offer Moldova 6.5 million euros under two agreements signed on Wednesday, December 15, in Chisinau, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to a press release from the German Embassy, the first agreement for 1.5 million euros in economic assistance was signed by State Minister Victor Bodiu and Friedel Eggelmeyer, representative of the German Federal Minister of Economic Cooperation and Development.
The second agreement providing over 5 million euros was signed by representatives of the State Chancellery, the Reconstruction Credit Institute (KfW) and of the Social Investment Fund in Moldova.
The funds are to be used for developing agriculture and microcredit institutions. In addition, Moldova will benefit from technical assistance in the areas of professional training, public utility modernization and regional development.
The German official said that the 2 documents signed today represented Germany's contribution to Moldova's development. “The funding is directed at the priorities of our collaboration with the Moldovan government: sustainable economic growth, in particular at local level, and advancing toward the EU”, Friedel Eggelmeyer said.
State Minister Victor Bodiu gave assurances that all the commitments under the signed agreements would be fulfilled and the money would be used with maximum transparency.
