Germany will offer an additional 2 million euros to improve energy efficiency in ten districts in the north of Moldova and in the Transnistrian region. Acting Prime Minister Iurie Leanca and KfW project manager for Ukraine and Moldova, Gunnar Wälzholz, signed an extension agreement for a German assistance program, that will provide the extra 2 million euros, IPN reports.

“This way, we will continue to invest in our future, in the whole country, in order to offer our citizens modern social infrastructure. I'm grateful for your investments in Moldova, especially in the rural areas”, said the Prime Minister.

Gunnar Wälzholz announced that Germany's Development Bank KfW will soon open a branch in Chisinau. “We want to further contribute to the diversification of financing tools for small and medium businesses in Moldova and to invest in diverse social projects”, said the official.

The KfW assistance program has provided, via the Social Investments Fund in Moldova, a total of 12 million euros in grants. At the moment, there are about 90 projects underway, such as the repair and renovation of kindergartens, water supply systems, roads, hospitals, street lights, youth centers and retirement homes. KfW is one of the leaders in the German banking sector and one of Europe's largest banks. It has over 70 branches and offices around the world.
