A project was launched to improve water infrastructure in central Moldova. Supported financially by the Government of Germany, the project is designed to unify the water supply systems of Chisinau municipality and of Straseni and Calarasi towns, by gradually connecting about 20 villages situated in the way of the water pipeline, IPN has learned from the Ministry of Environment.
In the project launch event, Minister of Environment Valeriu Munteanu said the pipeline will enable the people from the districts of Straseni and Calarasi to have access to drinking water of a high quality. “On the occasion of the official launch of the project “Improvement of water infrastructure in central Moldova”, I want to thank the Government of Germany for the continuous cooperation with the sector partners, for the support provided for implementing the project through the agency of the German Credit Institute for Reinstruction,” stated the official.
To extend the Chisinau-Straseni-Calarasi water pipeline within the project “Improvement of water infrastructure in central Moldova”, KfW Development Bank will offer €730,000 in grant aid.
The project implementation period is 12 months. The carrying out of the feasibility study for extending the water pipeline represents the first stage of the process of planning and constructing the water supply network in the southern districts. The works will start when this is completed.
