Three days after the visit of German Chancellor Angela Merkel to Chisinau, the Government published the translated variant of the speech delivered at the Republican Palace. It is also available on the Info-Prim Neo website, at http://info-prim.md/?a=14&id=2873. Angela Merkel was on an official visit to Moldova on August 22, at the invitation of Premier Vlad Filat. Both at the press conference, as well as during the speech at the Republican Palace, the Chancellor’s words were being translated by an interpreter from Angela Merkel’s delegation. Many people complained after the event that the interpreter had a diction that made it hard to understand the Chancellor’s message. It is assumed that the Executive translated the German Chancellor’s speech upon insistent requests from several news agencies.
