Germany’s Chancellor Olaf Scholz will visit Moldova on August 21 on the invitation of President Maia Sandu.
“This visit emphasizes the strong bilateral relations between the two countries, as Germany is one of the most important partners of the Republic of Moldova in the process of modernization and accession of our country to the European Union”, the President’s Office said in a press release.
On August 27, as Moldova will be celebrating its Independence Day, visits are also expected from the presidents of the three Baltic nations: Estonia’s Alar Karis, Latvia’s Edgars Rinkēvičs, and Lithuania’s Gitanas Nausėda.
“The presence of these leaders in Chisinau is proof of the constant and solid support that the Baltic countries give to the Republic of Moldova in our European journey. The Baltic States, members of the European Union since 2004, represent a successful model in terms of increasing the standard of living through EU accession. To illustrate, in two decades, real wages have trebled, and the poverty level has halved”, the Moldovan President’s Office added.
