Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel welcomes the launch of the European People’s Party of Moldova (PPEM). In a congratulation message on the occasion of the PPEM’s congress, the Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU), which is a member of the European People’s Party, says that in a very difficult period for the country, the PPEM assumes democratic responsibility for a better future for the people of Moldova, IPN reports, quoting the news portal Realitatea.
“On the occasion of the congress held to constitute the European People’s Party of Moldova, I transmit the warmest regards and best wishes on my behalf and on the behalf of the Christian Democratic Union of Germany. I’m also authorized to transmit you, in a separate way, sincere regards from the party’s leader Angela Merkel,” CDU secretary general Peter Trauber, who is a member of Germany’s Parliament, says in his message.
He encourages Iurie Leanca and the party he heads to make effort to achieve the set goals, especially as regards the strengthening of the rule of law, corruption fighting and economic development of the state, which are equally decisive for achieving the objective of becoming integrated into the EU.
“Our political community is powerful only when it is united. I wish you to be successful in this rapprochement alongside the European People’s Party and the partner parties from the European states,” said Peter Trauber.
The PPEM was officially founded in the party’s first congress on July 26. Iurie Leanca was chosen chairman of the party by a majority of votes of the delegates.
