Georgia has congratulated Moldova on the ratification of the Association Agreement with the EU. Prime Minister Iurie Leanca had a meeting with the new Georgian Ambassador to Moldova Merab Antadze, who said that the ratification of the accord is a historical moment for Moldova, IPN reports, quoting the Government’s press service.

“Moldova and Georgia have the historical chance of joining the large European family. It is an important stage for our countries,” said the diplomat.

The interlocutors congratulated each other on the signing by Moldova and Georgia of the Association Agreement with the EU in Brussels on June 27.

Merab Antadze noted that the Georgian legislature intends to ratify the Association Agreement with the EU in an extraordinary sitting in the middle of July.

Iurie Leanca said that Moldova and Georgia make history. “We must strengthen our relations of friendship with the countries that have the same views and the same future,” he stated, voicing hope that this will essentially contribute to developing the Moldovan-Georgian dialogue at multiple levels.

Moldova ratified the Association Agreement with the European Union on July 2.
