One third of Moldova's population is for the union with Romania, another one third is against it, while the others are undecided, the leader of the Unionist Platform "Actiunea 2012” George Simion said in the talk show "Pahomi” on Realitatea TV channel, quoted by IPN.

According to Simion, in the current conditions the possible union must be based on ethnic criteria. "I think we must focus on economy, justice and education. The people want to live better and Romania is more attractive from this viewpoint. Any poor pensioner from Moldova would like a pension like in Romania. We must explain this to the people," said the Platform's leader.

George Simion noted that he is for giving Moldova the status of autonomous unit in case of reintegration. "The people fear that they will remain without capital and without symbols. Who said that Chisinau will not remain the capital of Moldova or Moldova's Parliament will not be kept? The future state could be named Romania and Moldova," he stated.

The leader of the Platform "Actiunea 2012” denied the accusations that he promotes unionist propaganda in schools, made by the Moldovan press. "I attended only one cultural-artistic event at the Chisinau Lyceum "Gheorghe Asachi”. I didn't travel to schools. I yet have meetings with Moldovan young people and tell them about Romania and the European Union as the people should know about them. I also make donations of Romanian books to schools and libraries. We also organize trips to Romania for Moldovan young people," he stated.

As to the ban to enter Moldova imposed earlier on him, Simion said the Romanian authorities contributed a lot to its lifting. "I was defended by the Romanian Embassy in Chisinau, the Romanian foreign minister and other officials from Romania. But who defends the people of Moldova?" he asked.
