General local elections will take place on June 5

The legislative body decided that the general local elections will be held on June 5, Info-Prim Neo reports. The draft decision concerning the general local elections was adopted by the parliamentary majority after the ruling alliance had coordinated the date with the members of the Central Election Commission (CEC) in a meeting on Thursday. The Communist Party does not agree with the chosen date. It considers that the local elections should take place later. MP Sergiu Sarbu said not much time remained and the CEC will not manage to organize the event. Under the Election Code, the date of the general local elections is set by Parliament Decision at least 60 days before the elections.
